Escape the city and step into one of Tallinn’s last untouched corners in this fascinating day trip. Aegna Island, just off the coast of Tallinn (25 minutes via boat), is home to long-forgotten military bunkers, abandoned buildings, pagan remains and peaceful forests. Once a strategic outpost, now reclaimed by the forest, Aegna is an adventurous traveller’s dream. I came here for the first time in 2014 and have been exploring and camping on the island ever since then.
Join this truly unique tour and uncover Tallinn’s hidden side. If you love the thrill of exploring forgotten places and tranquil nature, this adventure is for you.

What to Expect on the Tour
This full-day abandoned Tallinn experience begins with a morning boat ride from Linnahall to Aegna Island. Once there, we’ll spend approximately three hours uncovering its mysterious past, taking a coffee and food breaks in scenic spots. The main highlights of this tour are:
- Overgrown military bunkers – Hidden between thick forests, these structures offer a glimpse into the island’s wartime role
- Abandoned buildings – Discover the forgotten holiday homes, military barracks, the officer’s casino and and abandoned sauna house
- Ancient remnants – Discover an abandoned cemetery and locations tied to Estonia’s pagan past, adding a deeper historical and mystical element to the tour
- The beauty of Estonian nature – The official, year-round population of Aegna is almost zero. There are no asphalt roads and only one car on the island
- Unique photography opportunities – This tour is particularly good for any urbex photographers or those looking for those unique travel shots.
After our guided tour, you’ll have time to relax, explore at your own pace, or simply enjoy the peace of this hidden escape before we take the afternoon boat back to Tallinn.
